I started one below using a picture taken during the summer in Holywell Bay, Cornwall. Again this would link in perfectly with Art when looking at paintings. The programme allows you to edit photographs using brushes in the style of different artists such as Monet and Van Gough. However my personal favourite was Psykopaint which allows you to create paintings from photographs. Definelty useful for cross-curricular links with Art and History.Īs I mentioned my time was limited looking at things for imagery. One particular programme that I took an instant liking to was Google Art Project which allows children to virtually look around art galleries in the same way you can look at street view on Google Maps. Having spent a lot of time looking at animation I thought I should take a look at some Image programmes too (more links for these can be found on a second sqworl set). It is quite time consuming and can be frustrating at times but the end product is worth all the trouble. Just like Jemma and Caroline from my group did, acting out a scene from Robin Hood (you can watch this on youtube also). This is definetly something I would use in schools as it was so much fun and would allow children to act out their own mini stories or even ones that are being covered in other subjects. You can see my animation below, and also one youtube.

PROGRAMS LIKE PSYKOPAINT MOVIE
I created a mini movie of a pirate who rows ashore an island to retrieve the treasure from the chest under the palm-tree. I had so much fun with this, time just flew.
PROGRAMS LIKE PSYKOPAINT SOFTWARE
You have to make the toys do ‘tiny movements’ and capture each one with a camera and the software then links them all together to create a mini movie. Its involved creating using things such as lego and playmobile to act out a story. It allows you to create stop-frame animation like the techniques used in creating Wallace and Grommit. Having had no luck with the previous animation programme I decided to attempt to create a movie on Monkey Jam (by far my favourite), with much more promising results. Althoguh having a play around this programme was quite complex and complicated so wouldn’t be suitable for use in KS1 or lower KS2.
PROGRAMS LIKE PSYKOPAINT FREE
Join ‘Stick Man’ on his latest adventure!Īother programme was Muvizu which is a free animation software programme that allows you to make 3D animated movies. The pictures below show some freezeframes from episode 2. This was very fun but I would have to think carefully if I was planning it into my lessons. However I did experiment with a programme called Draw a Stick Man where you can choose between two episodes, and draw a stickman to star in the story, along the way you participate and draw specific things to help him along (e.g. With limited time avaliable I had a little explore to see what the different programmes do. Fortunately, Helen has created a Sqworl set to group them all in one place so they are easy to access.

I think this was expected, having seen the boxes of lego, playmobile and other toys layed out on the table as we entered.Īs with the IWB software a few weeks ago their is an overwhelming source of programmes out their avaliable use. This week intoruduced the topic of exploring image and animation, which I have to say was amazing as the title suggests.
